Do you know the 3 types of French Decor?
French decor falls into three main categories:
-
French Farmhouse: characterized by rustic pieces such as terracotta, lots of light colored or raw woods, worn and distressed furniture and accessories, and rustic French willow baskets are just a few of the pieces found in this type of French decor.
-
French Country/Provincial: is a little more ornate and elegant with some glitzy gold accessories juxtaposed against worn and distressed furniture and accessories with more elevated fabrics and wrought iron pieces.
- French Chateau: is very ornate and luxurious; walls with moldings, marble fireplaces, sconces, plaster statues and busts, and tons of glitzy, gold accessories.
While all three types of traditional French decor have a lot of the same items, they mainly differ by degrees of cost and elegance because of the entire country was attempting to replicate the sumptuous palaces of Louis XIV, XV, and XVI with varying budgets.
